The 1st Philippine International Eco-Show (PINES), organized by Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), draws further importance on eco-friendly business practices and green initiatives with the launching of the 1st PINES Awards.
The awards night, exclusive for PINES exhibitors and guests, starts a tradition in the show to recognize individuals, companies and institutions that have rendered outstanding contributions to the preservation and conservation of the environment. The awards will honor and highlight eco-products and services, green programs and policies and pro-active environmental advocates.
“The PINES Awards encourages companies to integrate and institutionalize environmental initiatives in their corporate and organizational practices for a sustainable future.”, said Thelma Dumpit-Murillo, PINES Project Director and Deputy Executive Director of CITEM.
Award categories include Best Eco-Lifestyle Product and Services, Best Eco-Industry Product and Services and Best Eco-CSR Program. Deadline for submission of nomination forms is on July 30, 2010. Winners shall be announced during the Networking and Awards Night on August 27, 2010.
To further spread the eco-virus, PINES will hold a national photography competition from July 1 to July 30, 2010 with the theme “Towards a Greener Earth”. This contest aims to promote the importance of addressing climate change challenges and encourage responsible governance towards the environment through photography. The Eco-Photography Tilt is open to all amateur and professional photographers. Sponsored by Global Competitiveness, winners will receive a certificate of recognition along with P10, 000.00 for the 1st prize, and 5,000.00 for the 2nd prize and 3,000.00 for the 3rd prize.
Finally, Eco-buffs are in for a treat with the Eco-Business Tour, which highlights the country’s green industry, initiatives and good environmental practices of both private and public firms. Scheduled on August 28, 2010, the upcoming tour features Subic Bay, Zambales and its resident companies that promote and practice green policies. The tour allows participants to take a first-hand look at the environmental efforts and eco-friendly practices currently being implemented by the featured companies.
